Şefik Gül was born on June 23, 1941, as the eldest of three children to Fazilet and Aziz Gül. Even as a young man, he demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination. Following the untimely passing of his father in 1964, he took on the responsibility of supporting his family while continuing his education, setting the stage for a life marked by achievement and leadership.


In 1971, Mr. Gül co-founded Gülsan with his brothers, laying the foundation for a company that would become a cornerstone of the Turkish contracting sector. By relocating the company’s headquarters to Ankara in 1981, he spearheaded Gülsan’s transformation into a nationally recognized name and a significant player in international markets. Under his visionary leadership, Gülsan undertook ambitious infrastructure projects in various countries, with funding from prestigious institutions like the EBRD and the World Bank.


Among his most notable achievements were the Nissibi Cable-Stayed Bridge, a testament to Turkey's engineering excellence, and the Kömürhan Bridge, celebrated as the world's fourth widest single-pylon bridge. These projects not only highlighted his company’s technical expertise but also cemented Gülsan’s reputation as a leader in innovation and quality.


Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Gül actively contributed to sports and community initiatives. He held managerial positions in Elazığspor, Fenerbahçe, and Ankaragücü Sports Clubs, promoting teamwork and community involvement. His philanthropic efforts are exemplified by the establishment of Aziz Gül Primary School in Elazığ. Mr. Gül was a devoted family man, proud father to two sons and grandfather to four grandchildren. His life story is one of resilience, vision, and a steadfast commitment to making a difference.
