Nissibi boasts a series of record innovations, under the umbrella of the Turkish construction sector. In technical terms, Nissibi Bridge is a “cable-stayed bridge”. Cable-stayed bridges are modern and functional structures. They are optimal for long spans, similar to the suspension bridges of the Bosphorus in Istanbul.

Nissibi Cable-Stayed Bridge’s main 400 m. span is built using 26 segments of 250 tons each. The segments were installed by heavy lifting equipment from the lake reservoir. The project was completed in 2,5 years. It was opened for public use in May 2015.

Nissibi is the first bridge in Turkey whose construction and design were both carried out domestically. Nissibi also holds various awards like the Ernst & Young Sign of the City Award, the Transportation Award, and the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (ECCS) Award.
